Are You There?

Filmed over 16 days in Cape Town, Are You There? is a collection of memories from Patrick Rogalski, Patrick Zentgraf, Kai Hillebrand and Jost Arens’ trip to South Africa earlier this year. I’m sure it’s pretty obvious from the piece but to give a bit of context to just how magical an experience it was I asked Jon Wolf (who filmed and edited it) to explain the title for us:

‘The title comes from a rasta we met next to the beach… He was so hyped on skating and had the best vibes! He kept screaming ‘are you there?’ and singing Oohyyoooo, which quickly became the mantra of the trip. We were on a constant high out there, everything felt amazing, and between the spots, the locals and the landscape, it kind of felt like a dream. So jokingly we started constantly asking each other ‘are you there?’. That guy’s vibes carried us through the whole trip and in a way are still with us today, as later the phrase took on another meaning… For us now ‘are you there?’ resonates with the idea of checking in with your friends, realising the importance of living in the moment and not getting too caught up with what has happened or what may happen.’
