Brett Weinstein in Static VI

I think it’s safe to say that the influence of Josh Stewart’s Static series on our culture is immeasurable, with everything from the style of filming to how spots are thought about (and at times organised within the parts) to the use of B-Roll still seeping into the work of so many of our favourite videographers today. It’s also commonly acknowledged that it takes more than just being a talented skateboarder to get offered to film a section for one of these and that how these guys read their cities – and in a sense embody them – tends to play a big part in them being chosen. If in doubt just stick on the second instalment (which just got uploaded in 1080p): you’ll see exactly what we mean.
Anyway, it’s with all this in mind that we’re extra proud to introduce Brett Weinstein’s Static VI section. As someone whose back catalogue is a testament to his love for Chicago and the hours he’s spent refining his repertoire at Chase and exploring the city’s back alleys, we feel there couldn’t be a more fitting candidate to represent the series’ legacy… And he came through! If that last minute-and-a-half doesn’t make you feel something in that same magical way as Puleo did gliding his front truck along that sinuating yellow flatbar then there’s nothing we can do for you.
