”The skating, yeah — it’s fucked. But the FILMING in ‘13:37′…sheesh.”
– Quartersnacks, January 8, 2021.
Can the camera-wielding in skateboard videos ever actually outshine the stunts? It’s a dilemma we often think about, especially shortly after hitting play on a Fritte release… For about three and a half seconds.
Then we realise he could point that thing at any of us however way he wanted, squeaking a saggy backtail on that little bank would sadly never deliver the same results as that opening line, and that filming can only ever truly be this exceptional if the skating is too (see the shapes on that thumbnail). They’re two sides of the same mythical coin. One that feels so far removed from anything you’ll be able to do or understand that by the time the backside smithgrind frontside bigspin gets launched out at you via some futuristic frontal fish magic you stop wasting your time pondering such pointless questions and relax into the rest of the first watch. The second watch tends to be much more chill. There is no third because you’ve just run out of the house skateboard in hand.
Starring Martin Sandberg and Nisse Ingemarsson.
Filmed and edited by Fritte Söderström.
Guest line: Tyler Surrey.
